Planet Premiers-- Like them or not?

Planet premiers, do you like them or not?

If you don't know what a planet premier is, it's when a radio station or some other type of media plays all the songs from an album that hasn't been released yet.

Some may call it leaking an album, but the station has permission from the record label and artist.

So what is the reason for having a planet premier? I honestly don't know why.

When I pre-order an album I want to hear the music for the first time right when I get it.

It's supposed to be a surprise, that's why you pre-order the album.

To play every single song in its entirety on the radio defeats the purpose of buying the album.

What are your thoughts on this? Leave a comment and let me know.

  2. In this day and age it doesn't really matter to very many people. Everyone is downloading their music from iTunes and very few people are pre-ordering albums. Very few people are even buying albums at all. I would love to go back to the day when music only existed on CD or vinyl and you bought an album not knowing what to expect.

The only positive to the downloading capability is that you can get just one songs from an otherwise horrible album and, the most important part, music today sucks. There are very very few artists out today that are still making an entire album of good music.
